About Anchorage Pet Travel Certificates

Why would anyone ever want to leave Alaska? Well, sometimes Life changes — a new job, family matters, things crop up. And sometimes you just gotta get away for a bit. And who wouldn’t want to take their furry friends along for the trip?

The goal of Anchorage Pet Travel Certificates is to help you & your pets get the necessary and required paperwork to see your pets safely to their destination. We know that, in these busy & challenging times, the need for veterinary services sometimes exceeds the vet community’s scheduling availability.

With that in mind, beginning in summer of 2022, we began offering once weekly clinics on Sundays, & in May 2023 expanded to twice-weekly clinics, Thursdays & Sundays. To date, we’ve safely seen well over a thousand pets to their new homes, or holiday homes, from destinations as nearby as Sitka & Kodiak, and as far-flung as Chile, Malaysia, Israel, & the Philippines.

Dr Ginny Kunch, DVM, MRCVS, has over twenty-five years Alaska vet experience, as well as having coordinated her own international pet travel to live & work abroad in Wales & Scotland. While working as a vet in Britain, she was qualified as an OV -- Official Veterinarian -- and completed the Royal College of Veterinary Services course & certification for international pet travel.

During your appointment — which you can schedule yourself, from the Appointments link, above, on this website — your pet will be examined by a licensed & accredited veterinarian & receive the necessary signed documents to get your pets on a plane (or ferry!) or across the borders into Canada and back into the US. Rabies vaccination (required for travel) is also available, as are written prescriptions for sedatives, and/or heartworm medication for dogs. (see our FAQs page for additional information).

[Note: International travel certificates are also available but, due to their individual complexities, require additional pre-appointment arrangements and cannot be booked online. Please contact AnchoragePetTravel@gmail.com for more information.]

Book with us today, via the Appointments link above, and see our FAQs page for additional important information!
